For me, grocery shopping is one of the big deals. Grocery shopping can indeed take hours, no matter how long or short your list is. So, a solution to this problem is to opt for items in bulk form. During the last two years, quarantine has also made us purchase the items for the whole month. Storage of groceries is easy for canned and packaged items. But the problem starts when you have to preserve fresh vegetables. Know that vegetables are fragile items that need proper guidance and safety measures. Besides, you can spoil your veggies if you are not storing them under the appropriate instructions.

The sudden urge to do grocery shopping has led us all to seek ways of preserving our veggies. Many restaurants also opt for a cold freezer room to secure their veggies. It is the same for all of us when you need to store your veggies. The must-have thing for the storage of veggies is none other than a quality appliance. The preferable way to secure your vegetable is by freezing them. But know that it is not as simple as it looks. You cannot throw all your vegetables in the freezer and assume that they are safe. There are many requirements you have to fill while freezing your fresh veggies.

It is better to know the pros and cons of freezing your veggies. Below is a helpful guide for you when you need to freeze your vegetables. You can read the guide below to know the precautions. These points are crucial when you have to maintain the quality of your fresh vegetables.

  • Wash your veggies with water:

The first step is to wash off any dirt from your veggies. No matter where you purchase your vegetables, you need to wash them. You have to take out your vegetables, put them under the fresh tap water. Rub your veggies to take off any stains or dirt. Doing so will also help you see any rotten part of your veggies. You have to cut off any spoiled part of your veggies, or else it can also rot the other veggies.

  • Cut the veggies in cube form:

Freezing an entire cauliflower or other veggies will not be a clever technique. There are two problems when it comes to storing the veggies without cutting. The first is that they will take more space. The second problem is that you have to defrost and use the part as a whole. So, a better option is to cut your veggies in small chunks. This way, you can only defrost and use the part of veggies that you need.

  • Blanching is the best:

Blanching your veggies is a must-have when you have to ensure the quality of your veggies. Blanching your veggies will help you lock the flavor and texture of your veggies even when you freeze them. For blanching, you have to fill a large pot with water. Bring the water to a simmer and dip your veggies in it. Do not cook your veggies thoroughly, and let them be a little bit firm. Strain the water and convert the veggies into a pan.

  • Spread your veggies on a sheet pan:

Before converting your veggies into a container, you have to dry them on a sheet. You have to spread out your veggies and put the sheet pan into the freezer. Lay your veggies so that they are not touching.

  • Store in a container

The last bit is to convert your frozen veggies into an airtight container. Paste the date of your veggies so that you do not use expired veggies.
