5 Benefits Of Grass-fed Meat

Red meat or beef is widely considered unhealthy. But when consumed in moderate amounts and when it comes from the right sources, it offers a lot of health benefits.

Animals are ideally to be fed only with grass, but due to increased demand and for profit,  they are fed with cheaper and more readily available grains, which leads to the classification of animals into –Grass-fed beef and Grain-fed beef.

Grass-fed beef is healthier when compared to grain-fed beef. It has lower calories, higher nutrition content, is not treated with antibiotics or hormones, and is fed on grass only.

Grass-fed beef comes with the following benefits:

1] Prevention of disease

Grass-fed beef is believed to contain two to six times more omega 3 acids than grain-fed beef.  Omega 3 acids are said to prevent many diseases like heart diseases, eczema, rheumatoid arthritis, stroke, and others. Research shows it also has more antioxidants, which prevent cell damage.

2] Antibiotic and Hormone-free

To keep grain-fed animals in a good health and to make them plump, they are treated with antibiotics. When we consume the meat of these, we are consuming the antibiotics as well. This can cause various issues. Grass-fed animals are free of these and thus, they are healthier.

3] Building and maintaining muscle mass

Beef is a high source of protein and contains amino acids required for complete protein building block. The grass-fed beef can reduce the risk of sacropenia- a loss of muscle mass due to insufficient protein in the body.

4] Heart health

We’ve all observed how the cases of heart diseases have bolstered in the past few years. Fats are a major cause of heart diseases, and what you consume decides if you will have heart diseases. Grass-fed beef has lower composition of saturated fat. When compared to grain-fed beef, grass fed beef is less harmful. It is even considered to have positive effects on levels of cholesterol.

5] Improvement in performance of exercises

Carnosine is a compound which affects muscle function. When performing high intensity exercises, this perhaps increases your capacity. Beta-alamine, an amino acid found in grass-fed beef helps produce this compound.  This results in lower fatigue and better muscle performance.

Grass-fed meat is not only healthy but also delicious. However, one must be aware of where the organic meat comes from. Papa Earth grass fed meat is sourced from sustainable local farmers and is fresh and organic.
