How to Cook Your Favourite Meal with Rose Buds

Rose Bud Chutney

Chutney is famous worldwide, but many people don’t know it originated in India. India’s famous condiment is added with chopped fruits, sugar, vinegar, and spices that are all cooked together to create a chunky and flavourful spread. 

Rosebud chutney works great with different types of meat, and you can simply have it as a spread or fruit dip. It grants that fantastic kick of spice to your meals. For the rosebud chutney, you need to have:

  • 1 pint of Apple cider vinegar
  • ½ pound of seedless raisins
  • 2 teaspoons of ground ginger
  • 1 ½ pound of peeled and chopped apples
  • ¾ cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 large garlic cloves
  • ½ brown sugar
  • 1/8 cup of orange juice
  • ½ grated orange zest
  • 1/8 cup of lemon juice
  • ½ rose buds

It’s low in fat, low in cholesterol, and low in saturated fat. It’s trans-fat-free with exceptionally low sodium content. Plus, it’s a terrific source of fibre! 

Quails with Rose Sauce

It’s the meal you won’t forget and look for often because of the delicious fried poultry and delectable sauce. It’s a recipe from the book “Like Water for Chocolate” by Mexican writer Laura Yeskivel.

To prepare this feast, you need:

  • 1-2 pieces of Quail, but chicken is a perfect substitute
  • 12 parts of rose buds
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • 2 tablespoons of anise or 1 tablespoon of star anise
  • 100g chestnuts or potatoes 
  • Salt and pepper 
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
Mouhalabieh

It’s your Middle Eastern milk pudding infused with rosebud water and topped with those delicious crushed pistachios. The recipe is simple, frugal, but exceptionally exotic. 

The ingredients you need are:

  • 2 cups or 500ml of milk  
  • 100 grams or ½ cup of sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch or cornflour 
  • 1 tablespoon of rosebud water
  • For garnish, add rose petals and pistachios
